The purpose of Theta Tau is to develop and maintain a high standard of professional interest among its member and to unite them in a strong bond of fraternal fellowship.

Theta Tau is a co-ed fraternity that combines the best attributes of social fraternities, technical societies, and honor societies. It prepares its member for the engineering profession while they get the most enjoyment and memories out of their college years. Theta Gamma Chapter of Theta Tau has been at the University of Michigan since 1999.
